Simeon II received from the Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) the certificate accrediting him being an ambassador of the International Year associated with Sustainable Tourism for Development, that is being observed globally throughout 2017. The figure of Ambassadors from the International Year was presented final January at the launching of the Season that took place in the context associated with FITUR in Madrid.
Speaking at the ceremony held on the UNWTO headquarters in Madrid, UNWTO Secretary-General Taleb Rifai emphasized: “ When designating 2017 as the Global Year of Sustainable Tourism just for Development, the United Nations recognized tourism’ s contribution to the development plan, to peace, equality and success.
