DHARAMSHALA, Dec. 28: With the Chinese government exercising crude travel restrictions and confiscation of passports of Tibetans ahead of the upcoming Kalachkra teachings in Bodhgaya, India, Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama has reassured Tibetans of the blessings bestowed during the foremost Tibetan Buddhism teachings.
During a three – day teaching in New Delhi recently, the Tibetan leader told Tibetans who have since been recalled to Tibet by the Chinese government, “Those of you who will not be able to stay during the Kalachakra teachings, do not be dejected as you will all be able to receive the wang (empowerment) as well as blessings. I will pray for all the Tibetans in Tibet from Bodhgaya. The physical distance between a teacher and his disciple can be overcome by the innate tie within.”
The Tibetan leader advised Tibetans going back to Tibet to emphasize on the education of the younger generation and also thanked Tibetans both inside and in exile for their continued pursuit for the resolution of the Tibetan political issue.
Many say that the assurance by the Dalai Lama comes as a relief to many Tibetans who have been restricted to travel to Nepal or India to attend the teachings. Earlier last week, Indian daily The Indian Express reported that Chinese government has issued a temporary travel restriction on its citizens visiting Nepal and asked its travel agencies and airlines to cancel all travel plans and bookings made until January 10 with immediate effect.
Also sporadic reports emerged from inside Tibet where authorities confiscated passports issued to Tibetans and also directed Tibetans who are in Nepal to come back before the Kalachakra teaching due to be held in January 2017.
