Euston travel chaos: London Overground services won't restart until Sunday

TravelWireNews update:

Travel problems at Euston station will continue until Sunday afternoon, National Rail confirmed today, following a track-side fire earlier this week.

The national rail operator said the fire that occurred next to the track at South Hampstead on Wednesday “caused major damage to a cable which supplies traction power on a section of DC lines out of London Euston”.

“It’s estimated that repairs needed to enable the line to re-open will by completed by midday Sunday 23 April,” National Rail said.

“Until then London Overground services are unable to run between Harrow & Wealdstone and London Euston. A shuttle service will operate between Watford Junction and Harrow & Wealdstone.”

Disruption is expected to continue until 15:00 on Sunday 23 April.

Euston was evacuated and closed on Wednesday after a power cut caused by the South Hampstead fire. Train delays and cancellations continued well into yesterday.
