“ 2016 in particular has been a very successful year” says Sebastiaan Schaafsma, President associated with Sir Albert’ s Green Group. “ We are very proud of the particular team efforts put into the hotel’ s sustainability program. People in each layer of the organization are aware of the particular impact their actions have over the environment. ”
The particular hotel’ s Green Team arranged a ‘ Green month’ to boost awareness with all hotel staff. The rear of house areas were embellished with posters that shared home elevators sustainability; a special biological (organic) eco-friendly lunch was served whilst eco-friendly flags set a festive environment.
Many team members took part by sharing great thoughts within the suggestion box on how to make our own hotel operations more sustainable, which we would like to highlight a couple which have been implemented recently:
: The Housekeeping department started to gather all partly-used mineral water bottles from your guest rooms to water the particular flowers and plants in and around the particular hotel premises, saving the use of plain tap water for this purpose;
– The particular Breakfast team is re-using the particular Biological (organic) jam glass cisterns for mini portions of fruit salads to avoid using disposable product packaging;
– The kitchen group used to switch on the grill the moment they walked into the kitchen. These people now light the grill simply 30 minutes before service to save on grilling with charcoal and Co2 emissions;
– A box for clear batteries and printer cartridges is positioned in the back office to make it reasonably easy for the team to recycle. The cash earned from recycling the ink cartridges is donated to charity.
These are just a few examples you want to share as best practices as these may be easily implemented by any hotel property or home around the world. It’ s in the small things to make a big difference!
