Alexandre de Brouwer, Director Common, Hyatt Ziva Cancun said, “ We are very proud to have already been awarded with the Green Globe qualification. As part of the tourism industry and as humans we have been blessed by Mother Nature and really should preserve it for future decades.
“ This prize is the result of consistent team function and marks our commitment to ongoing to manage and operate our company with the environment, our local community as well as its culture and traditions in mind”, added Director General de Brouwer.
Hyatt Ziva Jamaica put together 11 Sustainability Teams in order to tackle Green Globe certification’ h four key themes: Sustainable Administration; Cultural Heritage; Social Economic plus Environment. Weekly meetings were set up for each of the teams to follow upward different sustainability initiatives. Every 8 weeks, meetings were held, along with the Common Manager, to review achievements, improvements plus opportunities for each and every one of these endeavours.
Hyatt Ziva Jamaica also launched its own Sustainability Growth Department, responsible for projects focused on decreasing the impact of hotel functions on the environment.
Like a fundamental part of its work, the particular Sustainability Development Department began with all the creation of a Sustainability Management Program, to promote knowledge and respect designed for local community and its cultural, social, archaeological and natural heritage and motivate responsible behavior inside and away from hotel. The system also works to manage, plan, prioritize, manage and keep track of sustainable development projects by Hyatt Ziva Cancun management and personnel.
Projects to support nearby organizations have been supported with individual time and/or donations that try to improve the quality of life for the local people and preserve the environmental resources from the destination. Some of the volunteer work consists of: the Epiphany Caravan – getting toys to children in remote and impoverished communities; and yearly fund raising to benefit Ciudad de la Alegria, a local basis that supports orphans, women and seniors.
For the conservation from the environment, many new ideas and actions have been introduced including, composting associated with food waste; waste segregation to back up recycling; the use of biodegradable corn-starch storage containers; and water saving in visitor rooms.
Hyatt Ziva Cancun also supports campaigns to market awareness of common social problems inside the destination. These campaigns have centered on addiction, domestic violence, child mistreatment and sexual exploitation. The aim of the particular campaigns is to connect effected individuals with organizations that can provide advice plus assistance.
