Kendrick Lamar won a Pulitzer for 'DAMN.' and fans are shook

Kendrick Lamar is officially a Pulitzer Prize winner.

On Monday, the rapper was awarded the 2018 Pulitzer Prize in Music for his fourth studio album, DAMN., which was released almost exactly one year ago today on April 14, 2017.

Kendrick is the first non-classical or jazz artist to win the award, and upon learning the rapper had received such an honor, fans were SHOOK.

People showed immense excitement for Kendrick and offered their sincerest congratulations to the artist.

Kendrick’s album is described by Pulitzer board members as “a virtuosic song collection unified by its vernacular authenticity and rhythmic dynamism that offers affecting vignettes capturing the complexity of modern African-American life.” 

DAMN. also won the 2018 Grammy award for Best Rap Album of the year, however, many were quick to acknowledge how curious it was his Pulitzer-worthy work still had yet to win a Grammy for Album of the Year.
