Rockford issues travel, parking information for March 16-18

ROCKFORD — The city of Rockford recently issued travel and parking information for the upcoming St. Patrick’s Day parade and Alan Jackson concert March 17.

Municipal Lot 18 at Walnut and Madison streets will only be open for those attending the Illinois State Middle School Basketball Tournament on March 16-18.

Road closures for the Irish Marching Society’s annual St. Patrick’s Day parade will begin at 1:30 along the parade route and will be reopened to regular traffic by 4:30 p.m.  The parade will step off at Seventh Street and Fifth avenue and follow the route to East State Street, turning north onto Madison Street and ending at Prairie Street Brewing Co.

Arterial roads will have police directing traffic to allow periodic traffic flows during the parade. Parking is available in the many lots and side streets along the parade route.

Attendees of the Alan Jackson concert at 7:30 p.m. March 17 at the BMO Harris Bank Center coming downtown from the east should follow Jefferson Street to the parking areas to avoid delays on East State Street.

Parking for the concert is available at municipal surface lots and parking decks downtown.
