Iranian pilgrims will travel to Saudi Persia to participate in this year’ ersus annual hajj, Saudi officials stated Friday, after an absence a year ago during tensions between the regional competitors.
“ The ministry of hajj and the Iranian company have completed all the necessary steps to ensure Iranian pilgrims perform hajj 1438 according to the procedures followed by almost all Muslim countries, ” the official Saudi Press Agency said, referring to this season in the Islamic calendar.
For the first time in nearly three decades Iran’ s pilgrims – which would have got numbered about 60, 000 – did not attend the hajj within 2016 after the two countries did not agree on security and logistics.
