LOS ANGELES (KABC) —
If you still haven’t left Southern California for your holiday destination, you’re not alone.
An estimated 253,000 passengers are expected to pass through Los Angeles International Airport on Saturday, the airport’s busiest day in the holiday travel season.
The last-minute holiday rush had cars inching toward LAX early Saturday.
To help navigate airport parking, at least two apps are available for travelers to use. One of the apps is from Los Angeles World Airports, which can be found at LAWA.org. Another app is from FlightAware.com.
Airport officials recommend travelers arrive two hours early for domestic flights and at least three hours early for international flights.
To help ease congestion, LAX officials said they’ve halted construction in public areas around the airport until after the New Year on Jan. 4.
For those having to stay at the airport for long periods of time, therapy dogs, carolers and volunteers to help point you in the right direction will be available.
The 19-day holiday travel season began Dec. 15 and continues through Jan. 2. Within that time, more than 4.3 million travelers are expected to pass through the airport.
An estimated 7.2 million Southern Californians will drive to their holiday destinations.
