Airbus Updates Report on Space Activities and Commercial Aircraft Business

Airbus SE has issued a market update to announce recent advancements in its space operations and commercial aircraft division, resulting in adjustments to its 2024 forecast.

During the initial six months of 2024, the Space Systems management team carried out a thorough technical evaluation of all projects, pinpointing additional commercial and technical obstacles. Consequently, the Company has opted to document expenses totaling approximately € 0.9bn in the H1 2024 financial statements. These charges primarily stem from revised projections on timelines, workloads, procurement, risks, and expenses throughout the duration of specific telecommunications, navigation, and observation initiatives.

Airbus is currently encountering ongoing supply chain challenges in engines, aerostructures, and cabin equipment for their commercial aircraft. They have set a target to deliver approximately 770 commercial aircraft in 2024 and are gradually increasing production to reach a rate of 75 A320 Family aircraft per month by 2027. The updated guidance is based on the assumption that there will be no further disruptions to the global economy, air traffic, the supply chain, the company’s internal operations, and its ability to deliver products and services.
