Bishkek, Nov. 26, 2018. /Kabar/. Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Muhammedkalyi Abylgaziev held a working meeting to discuss the current state and prospects for the further development of the domestic tourism industry.
The press service of the Government Office reported that during the meeting, the head of government outlined a number of priorities aimed at increasing the tourist attractiveness of the country, which should increase the competitiveness of the tourism industry.

In particular, Abylgaziev called for comprehensive measures to improve the tourist infrastructure on-site, collation of tourist statistics, develop comprehensive measures to create favorable conditions for foreign tourists and organize a network of tourist campsites and recreation areas in the country’s regions.
“Tourism is one of the effective catalysts for socio-economic development, which has a stimulating effect on almost all sectors of our economy. And we set the goal to increase the share of tourism in the country’s GDP from 5% to 10% by 2023. This is a very ambitious figure, but taking into account the tourist potential of Kyrgyzstan, we must develop effective mechanisms for the development of tourism in order to ensure an annual increase in indicators,” Abylgaziev said.
The head of government outlined specific dates and paid special attention to the importance of improving the infrastructure near unique cultural and historical sites to increase the flow of tourists. “In the future, in each district there should be several unique tourist sites. We need a detailed map with a detailed description of an object in the context of each region,” the premier minister said.
The Prime Minister also called for intensification of efforts to attract local and foreign investments in the tourism sector in order to implement specific tourism projects throughout the country. “We need to develop new mechanisms for the development of tourism with the introduction of modern financial instruments and business models that will ensure economic efficiency,” Abylgaziev said.
The need to improve and update the legislative framework in the field of tourism was also stressed.
Minister of Culture, Information and Tourism of the Kyrgyz Republic Azamat Zhamankulov presented information about the draft program of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic on the development of tourism for 2019-2022.
He said that work is underway on the inventory of all tourism projects. In addition, Azamat Zhamankulov added that in order to improve the efficiency of work to improve the tourism industry in the country, it is proposed to create the Kyrgyz Tourism state enterprise.
The Prime Minister instructed to finalize the Concept of development of the tourism industry in a month’s time, taking into account the suggestions and comments made.
In addition, for the purposes of icreasing the volume of investments, the head of government instructed the Ministry of Culture, Information and Tourism, together with other government agencies and local governments, to develop tourist investment lots designating specific indicators.
