Vigorous marketing, new attractions planned
WELLINGTON, New Zealand (Radio New Zealand International, June 25, 2010) – The American Samoa Visitors Bureau says vigorous marketing is required to attract overseas people to the territory’s newest tourism project.
The firm Archaeological Consultants of the Pacific is attempting to identify and map historic sites in the mountains above Fagatogo, Fagaalu and utulei to build up a heritage tourism trail.
The Executive Director of the American Samoa Visitors Bureau, David Vaeafe, says the venture will generate boost and jobs tourism.
He says marketing will play an integral part in educating the planet in what the territory provides.
“We plan to have a vigorous advertising campaign therefore far we’ve spoken with travel and retailers agencies in New Zealand, Australia and the united states and airlines etc. And down the track further, 12 months and hopefully next, we’ll be appointing representatives in those three markets to represent the destination etc.”
David Vaeafe says the territory is working closely with counterparts in Samoa in the hope of fabricating island-hopping opportunities for visitors.
