Auburn RB Kamryn Pettway didn’t travel to Atlanta for Peach Bowl

It was already known that half of Auburn’s backfield wouldn’t play in the Peach Bowl against UCF, but Wednesday offered another wrinkle.

Pettway didn’t make the trip to Atlanta with the team, Gus Malzahn said.

He finished the season with 305 rushing yards on 76 carries with 6 touchdowns.

Kerryon Johnson will have to shoulder the load despite battling his way through the SEC Championship Game with an injury. All signs point to his health nearing its previous level. He tweeted that he would play in the game 11 days ago, but had his worst performance of the season in the SEC title game with 44 yards on 13 carries.

Pettway now has a future to think over. He could return to The Plains but has an opportunity to declare for the NFL Draft as well.
