It has operated from Liverpool John Lennon airport for three years, but last year launched an operational base there.

The airline, which has its home in Bucharest, Romania, celebrated its 13th year in business on December 13.

It operates flights to Milan, Rome, Alicante and several locations in Romania.

Last summer it brought in flights to Mallorca after demand from customers.

At the time Tudor Constantinescu, chief commercial officer at Blue Air said: “To be able to announce a brand-new route less than 12 months after our arrival at Liverpool John Lennon Airport is something that we are very proud of. It’s been an incredible year and we are delighted with the response that we have received from our passengers.”

Elena Signorelli, Blue Air’s sales and marketing manager for North West UK said they aimed to be different with free in flight services on Liverpool flights low prices, more legroom and a baggage allowance of up to 32kg.

She said: “We’ve been operating for more than 12 years, flying to over 100 European locations and we’re really excited for our passengers to select our next destination from Liverpool John Lennon Airport.

“We are delighted to be sponsoring the Travel and Leisure Show with the Blackpool Gazette.

“We are looking to reach out to customers across Lancashire.

“I know many people from the area will fly from Manchester but we want to remind them about the alternative, Liverpool, where it is twice as quick to fly from and of course very friendly.

“We are growing quickly and very excited about our new 737 Max aircraft which are of course much more environmentally friendly.”

The Gazette’s Travel and Leisure show will be held on Sunday, February 4 at The Village Hotel Blackpool.
