Boy, 15, killed by shot fired from motorcycle gang

PRACHIN BURI — A 15-year-old boy was killed by a bullet fired by a member of a motorcycle gang in Muang district early on Tuesday, police said.

The incident occurred shortly before 1am. The boy, Nathawut Pattanapanon, of Si Mahaphot district, and about 10 friends were riding on five motorcycles along Suwinthawong Road (Prachin Buri – Nong Cha-om) after a drinking session at an entertainment venue in the provincial town. Nathawut was riding alone on a Honda Wave.

They came across a gang of motorcyclists travelling in the opposite direction.  One member of the other gang suddenly pulled out a handgun and fired one shot, hitting Nathawut in the chest, police were told.

Nathawut, who had just completed Mathayom 3 (Grade 9), was rushed by his friends to Chao Phraya Abhai Bhubet Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

All members of the motorycle gang fled.

Pol Capt Sumit Akaranet, a duty officer at Muang district, said the police were investigating.
