Brandon Ingram injury update: Lakers F will undergo precautionary MRI, thursday didn’t travel with team

X-rays of Lakers forward Brandon Ingram’s left ankle were negative and he’ll have the sprain examined further on Thursday, coach Luke Walton says (via the LA Times).

The Lakers announced Ingram would undergo an MRI. He didn’t travel with the team to San Antonio and can miss Friday’s game.

Ingram left in the initial quarter of Wednesday’s 121-113 Lakers victory on the Spurs.

“He’ll be evaluated (Thursday),” Walton said following the game. “There is absolutely no timetable or anything like this yet. However they said he first got it good pretty.”

Ingram was on crutches following the game but, with the ankle wrapped in black tape, could walk some without them, based on the right times.

Ingram suffered the injury when he came down on LaMarcus Aldridge’s foot and turned his ankle.

After officials reviewed video of the play, Aldridge was needed a Flagrant 1 for not giving Ingram an opportunity to land after his shot.

LeBron James described losing Ingram as “huge” — during Wednesday’s game and for however long he could be sidelined.

“Obviously, we’ve had a fairly dang-gone good rotation of guys knowing who’s likely to play and where they’re likely to play, and the lineups on the market,” James said. “For the starting two guard to decrease in the initial couple minutes of the overall game, it derailed our offense just, taking among our best ballhandlers and midrange scorers from the game. Unfortunately, he’s likely to be out for a time [so] we must have guys intensify. That’s the type of the overall game.”

Ingram, 21, had five points on 2-of-2 shooting with a blocked shot before leaving the overall game but is averaging 15.7 points and 4.2 rebounds per game this year.
