British tourist beaten with metal pole at Croatian hostel
A British tourist says she was bashed with a metal pole after she refused demands to cover extra on her behalf hostel in a Croatian holiday town, reports news.com.au
Laura Denmar, 26, an musician and actor from Cambridge, UK, was holidaying in Split with her boyfriend Jeremy Lafond, 39, once the hostel owner allegedly pinned Mr Lafond against a wall and a cleaner beat Ms Denmar so badly she were left with a fractured hand and a cut on her behalf head.
Ms Denmar claimed the hostel staff fired up them following the couple refused to submit to “illegal” demands for additional money by the end of these stay.
The MailOnline reported the couple travelled to Croatia last month and booked a hostel for approximately $105 a night in popular Split by way of a major booking website, which includes not been named.

But if they arrived in Split, the accommodation was discovered by them — which finished up being in a “grimy” section of town — had not been at all what they expected.
“Whenever we arrived we realised that it had been not legitimate at all — there have been 30 beds and only 1 bathroom no one there running anything,” Ms Denmar said.
“We’d nowhere else to remain and we’d already paid so we made a decision to put up.”
Ms Denmar said the violent incident erupted on the last day, whenever a cleaner arrived to their room early and said they either had to cover additional money or escape immediately.
“I informed her that has been unreasonable and refused at hand over hardly any money therefore she told us she’d call the authorities if we didn’t leave,” she said.

“I knew what these were doing was illegal therefore i told her to be on and call the authorities. She called a guy who we think was the dog owner instead.
“We made a decision to escape there immediately, but she locked the hinged doors so we’re able to not leave before man arrived.
“When he did, he slammed Jeremy right into a wall with another guy and the girl started beating me with a metal pole. It had been awful.”
Ms Denmar was taken up to hospital with a fractured hand, bruises on her behalf body and arms, and a cut on her behalf head that needed stitches.

She said she have been in touch with Croatian police, the British Embassy and the web site by which she booked the hostel.
Police in Split said these were investigating an assault, the MailOnline reported.
“What happened to us was awful and I’d hate for this to occur to other people,” Ms Denmar said.
“I simply want visitors to know what happened certainly to me so that it never happens again.”
