Singapore’ s Changi Airport terminal was announced as the overall champion of the Routes Asia 2017 Marketing and advertising Awards at a ceremony last night (20 March) in Okinawa, Japan.
The annual Routes Asian countries Marketing Awards recognise excellence within airport and destination marketing. Air carriers vote for the marketing services that will support the successful launch of recent routes or the development of existing types, making them highly regarded in the aviation sector.

Last year Changi Airport terminal achieved a record high of 58. seven million passengers and more than 360, 000 aircraft movements, representing the 6% increase in traffic. New ways include Canberra, Wellington, Dusseldorf, Stockholm and Athens, with Addis Ababa joining Changi’ s network within June 2017.
Damon Wong, general manager, airline growth at Changi Airport Group mentioned: “ We constantly seek proper partnerships and collaborations with nearby governments, tourism boards and even some other airports to develop tourism and visitors flows between Singapore and marketplaces around the world.

As well as the overall winner, the awards are usually judged in five categories. Changi Airport was also honoured in the ‘ Over 20 Million Passengers’ group; Adelaide Airport won the ‘ 4 to 20 Million Passengers’ category; Sunshine Coast Airport received the ‘ Under 4 Mil Passengers’ category; and Philippine Section of Tourism scooped the ‘ Destination’ category.
Changi Airport was also the overall winner from the World Routes 2016 Marketing Honours which recognise marketing excellence on the global scale. Winning the Oriental heat of this year’ s honours means that Changi will have the chance to contend at the World Routes 2017 Marketing and advertising Awards in September.
