Court: Travel agencies can’t sell insurance for abroad

The Supreme Court ruled this week that starting in June 2018, only licensed certified insurance agents can sell travel insurance for abroad, thus disqualifying travel agencies and credit from doing so except in certain agreed-upon conditions, according to Haaretz’s The Marker financial publication.

The travel agencies will be allowed to suggest policies for healthy travellers on trips lasting less than 30 days and turn them over to a qualified insurance agent. The court gave travel agencies a year to prepare for the ruling to go into effect.
