DHA doctor elected International Society of Blood Transfusion director
International Society of Blood Transfusion elects members of its board of directors and regional directors every four years
Dubai: Dr Mai Raouf, director of Dubai Health Authority’s Dubai Blood Donation Centre, has been elected International Society of Blood Transfusion’s (ISBT) director of Eastern Mediterranean Region for the 2018-2022 period.
The ISBT is a scientific society that was founded in 1935, and has grown into an international society where transfusion medicine professionals from across the globe come together to share knowledge to improve the safety of blood transfusion worldwide.
The ISBT elects members of its Board of Directors and regional directors every four years, with a unanimous vote from all countries of the world.
Dr Raouf was elected due to her extensive experience in the field of blood transfusion and the World Health Organisation (WHO) in Geneva has chosen her as a WHO Blood Transfusion Specialist since 2012.
