One person has been injured in an explosion in the southern Russian city of Rostov-on-Don, police sources told the Russian media. The blast reportedly took place near a school.
The explosive device detonated when a man picked it up off the ground, RIA Novosti reported, citing a source familiar with the situation.
“The man picked up a suspicious object and it detonated. The man had his fingers blown off. He also received injuries to his abdomen. He was taken to hospital,” the source added.
According to Russian media, the man injured in the blast is a maintenance worker.
The school has cancelled classes and the area has been cordoned off, the source told RIA.
