If they could travel through time, this is the decade kids would pick

As part of the ongoing Kid’s Page series, NJ Advance Media asks students in kindergarten through the eighth grade to answer questions or complete a sentence. This week’s question is: If you could head back in time, what decade would you pick? Why?

If I could head back in time, I would go the 1960s, and I would live in California. In California they would go surfing, and have beach parties. Even on Christmas! For our school’s yearly winter concert, we did a play called Holly Jolly Jukebox. Each grade sang a song from a decade in the 1900s. We, the 4th grade class, were the 1960s, and our song was called “California Christmas”. In California it is so warm, especially in the summer. I went in August to go to Disneyland, and it was awesome! That’s where I would time travel to, if I could.

If I could travel back in time I would travel to 1770. I would travel there because I would like to see how New Jersey looked like and how people were treated. I would also like to be alive during the Battle of Monmouth. I wouldn’t fight in the war, I would just like to take a piece of history, and bring it here to 2018. That is why I would like to travel to 1770.

If I could travel back in time I would go to the 1980’s because then I could see my mom and dad as young people.  I could see how their lives worked and compare it to mine. Secondly, it would be a great experience. It’s great to see how my parents lived and not have to ask them or look at photos or old videos. Thirdly, I would check out the shops and schools to see the differences. Also, I would fly to New Jersey. I want to see my neighborhood. I am curious who lived in my house or if it existed. It would be awesome to time travel!!!
