KP tourism potential showcased in Prague fair
PESHAWAR: The stalls set up by the Tourism Corporation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (TCKP) at the 27th International Holidays Fair at Prague, the capital of Czech Republic, attracted a large number of visitors and tourists.

The visitors evinced keen interest in the tourist attractions and scenic sites of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. After briefing, many visitors expressed their desire to visit the marvelous destinations of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Pakistan Ambassador to Czech Republic Dr Israr Hussain also attended the event and extended all out help in establishing the stalls at the fair.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Secretary Sports, Tourism, Culture, Museums, Archaeology and Youth Affairs Babar Khan said that the department established the stalls to introduce the scenic sites of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and boost tourism in the province by luring more tourists. He said the 27th International Holidays Fair in Czech Republic was a best opportunity to showcase the tourism potential and attract foreign tourists to the province.
“The event is also a great occasion to showcase the soft image of Pakistan, particularly Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to the outer world that peace had been restored and the tourists can visit any place of their choice in the province,” the official said.
He said the TCKP team highlighted salient features of the cultural and tourist resorts through video documentaries, pictures, brochures and posters. The visitors were informed that 70 percent of tourist resorts were located in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the foreign tourists can now visit any place without any restriction and obtaining Non-Objection Certificate. Over 50 embassies and travel agencies have set up stalls at the fair showcasing the cultural and tourism potential of the respective countries.
Meanwhile, a video documentary was screened on Friday at the Islamia Public School in Peshawar to highlight the culture, history, heritage and promote tourism and create awareness against harassment of girls.
The documentary titled, “Our history, our identity” was the third event of the series of video programme launched by the TCKP in the public sector schools and colleges.
Principal of the school, staff members and a large number of students watched the documentary. Informative brochures on tourist attractions were distributed and skits were presented to create awareness among the students about the culture and tourism potential in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The skits were presented in way to train the girls to prevent themselves from harassment and assaults by men in daily life. The principal of the school said that it was a good programme to create awareness among the girl students about the culture, history, traditions and tourism.
In-charge Marketing and Media Hassina Shaukat said that participants were showed a video featuring historical and beautiful places in Peshawar, Charsadda, Mardan and other tourist resorts. She said that the event was aimed at making the students familiar with the history of the province besides showing them the rich culture and heritage.
The official added the documentary was the best mode of information dissemination to the students so they could see the natural beauty of the province and know about its history. Hassina Shaukat said that the documentary also contained information about the history of Peshawar, Mardan and Charsadda .
