Lipscomb makes tourism appointment
Rep. Craig Lipscomb, R-Gadsden, has appointed Jay Freeman of Southside to the Greater Gadsden Tourism Board.
Lipscomb, who represents District 30, said some of the most important decisions made in the community are not made by legislators, but by the people they appoint to various committees and boards.
For the past 12 years, Freeman has been in law enforcement. He has served as the School Resource Officer at Southside High School and served as a special deputy United States Marshal working with the FBI. He currently works for the Southside Police Department as a Sergeant in the Investigation Division and is an instructor for the Northeast Alabama Law Enforcement Academy.

He currently serves as President of the Etowah / Cherokee Chapter of the Police Benevolent Association, on the Etowah County Republican Executive Committee and on the Southside High School Athletics Foundation.
“I believe that communication and team cohesion is necessary to be successful.,” Freeman said. “I’ve gained firsthand knowledge about collectively working as a team, having an open mind about creativity and encouraging new ideas. I’m very thankful to Rep. Craig Lipscomb for this opportunity and appointment to the Etowah County Tourism Board.
