Wallasey Tunnel incident latest
Part of the Wallasey Tunnel is closed due to a suspected “lorry crash”.
Drivers are being advised a “contraflow” has been put in place to allow people to use the Eastbound tunnel to travel in both directions but there is delays there at the moment.
Travel data unit Inrix reported queuing traffic in both directions from A59 Scotland Road to the toll booths.
It is unclear what the cause of the incident is or if there have been any injuries but Merseytravel tweeted to say it was an incident with a HGV.

Part of the tunnel later reopened around 10.30am but a Merseytravel spokesperson said the incident is ongoing.

A Merseytravel spokesman said they could also confirm there had been an incident and had a team on site to check for what damage had been caused to the structure of the tunnel.
Tunnel Police also confirmed there had been an incident in the Wallasey Tunnel but refused to give any details on the nature of the incident or if there had been injuries.
