Dubai: In the line of duty, UAE firefighters have saved countless of lives — including the lives of animals.

Without a moment’s hesitation, Ajman’s Civil Defence rushed to help a drowning horse after it fell into a well.

On its Instagram account, Ajman Civil Defence posted a photo of the animal as its body was almost completely submerged in water and mud.

“The incident happened at 8.44am on Monday at a farm in Al Manama, and when firemen arrived at the scene, the horse was close to dying,” said Lt Jamal Hassan Jamal, acting officer of Al Manama’s Civil Defence Centre.

Firemen were able to successfully removed the animal from the well with the aid of ropes and machinery.

Lt Jamal also gave farm owners a cautionary message, and warned them not to leave wells uncovered in order to prevent similar accidents from happening.
