Throughout the year the resort participates in a range of social activities within the community including blood donations and raising funds for schools.
Of special merit is the partnership formed with the SOS Children’s Village Phuket, which is home to more than 130 children of all ages. Established after the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, this orphanage receives and provides donations of school supplies, food and toys for the children. In addition to regular donations, the resort is committed to offering hospitality internships to any orphans who complete their school studies.

On the resort’s grounds, a number of sustainability initiatives are in place that deliver a unique charm for guests to enjoy. For food-lovers, a Thai cooking class introduces guests to the flavors of Thailand and provides insight into this world-renowned culinary style. In addition, the accompanying tour around the organic vegetable garden within the resort, allows participants to learn about Thai ingredients, then harvest them for use in the cooking class. The organic garden also demonstrates best practices in composting and pesticide-free cultivation.
Getting around Mövenpick Resort & Spa Karon Beach Phuket is also a fun exercise in sustainability. The traditional Thai Tuk-Tuk is a symbol of Thailand recognized worldwide, but the resort has transformed this iconic vehicle in an eco-sustainable way. Working with a local supplier, the original gas engine was replaced with a 100% electric engine to minimize the carbon footprint. Taking this clean transportation idea a step further, the resort has also purchased Toyota hybrid vehicles to transport guests to and from the airport.
