Near Record Memorial Day Travel Expected in TX

Triple A Texas says you can anticipate a lot of company on the state’s highways during the upcoming Memorial day weekend.

The auto club’s Doug Shupe tells us 3.2 million Texans are planing to get out of twon for the long weekend, 2.8 million of them will be in an automobile.

So many people looking to get away is a sign of a strong economy according to Shupe. He says Texans are using their extra cash to travel.

Their going to need it too. Gas prices, airfares and hotel costs have all gone up recently.

Shupe says Memorial day travel will be at it’s highest level since 2005.
