The National and Transport Authority (NTSA) has suspended night travel licences for vehicles owned by five saccos for traffic violations.
Those suffering from the month-long suspensions are some vehicles owned by Mbukinya, Ongata Rongai, Kenya Poa, Unified Poa and Nazigi Saccos.

Others from prestige, Nawasuko, Latema, Kibea Bureti, Lucky Baba Marimba and Dogo sacco had their road service licences suspended for an identical time frame.
“Several operators have already been found to stay violation of provisions of section 7(c) and 11 (1) of the NTSA regulations 2014 despite a youthful warning against contravening conditions of these licences,” NTSA Director General Francis Meja.
“That that night travel poses a higher risk and most the accidents occur during this time period statistics indicate,” he added.
Only operators who’ve met stringent requirements to visit.
Additionally, seven drivers experienced their licences suspended for between one and 2 yrs for drink-driving.
NTSA, whose staff are helping traffic police in enhancing road safety in this festive period, may also be along the way of identifying operators who’ve hiked fares on different routes.
