Northumberland was named as the best place in the UK for families to visit last year and it’s not hard to see why.
There’s so much for people of all ages to do when they visit the county, but plenty of the attractions, places to go and things to see are particularly great for youngsters.
And of course, it means there’s plenty for families from Northumberland to do as well – it’s not just for tourists!
That’s why we need your help for one of the categories at the first Northumberland Tourism Awards – launched last month by Northeast Press’ four county titles – the Northumberland Gazette, Berwick Advertiser, Morpeth Herald and News Post Leader, with Northumberland Tourism.
The winner of the Family Day Out prize will be decided by a reader vote, based on a shortlist of your nominations.
So whether it’s the coast or castles, museums or mountains, or anywhere else you enjoy days out, send your nominations to email@example.com
As well as celebrating the best of Northumberland’ businesses and attractions, the winners will land a place on the shortlist for the North East England Tourism Awards, which take place each November.
With that in mind, the award categories mirror those in the regional contest: Boutique Accommodation/Small Hotel; Bed and Breakfast; Dog Friendly Business; Holiday Park; Hotel; Inclusive Tourism; Large Visitor Attraction; Self-Catering Property; Small Visitor Attraction; Sustainable Tourism Award; Taste Award; Tourism Pub of the Year.
Additionally at our awards, there will be prizes for the best Wedding Venue, Family Day Out and an overall prize.
There are separate entry forms for all the different categories, complete with guidance on how to fill them in from Northumberland Tourism, and they all can be downloaded here – tinyurl.com/kk7c2zw
The forms must be returned to info@northum berlandtourism.co.uk with the subject Northumberland Tourism Awards by Saturday, May 13. Following judging, a shortlist will be published on Thursday, May 18.
