The African Union-endorsed candidate for the post of Admin General of the United Nations World Travel and leisure Organisation – UNWTO – Dr Walter Mzembi, Zimbabwe’ s Minister of Tourism as well as the Hospitality Industry, and the current Chairperson of the UNWTO Regional Commission designed for Africa, is set to formally start his candidature at a landmark wedding reception event to be held in This town, Spain on 19 January, 2017.
The UNWTO provides its Headquarters in Madrid. Asked guests include representatives of all UNWTO Member States, the Secretary-General from the UNWTO and all Executive Directors from the Organisation, as well as senior representatives from the Spanish Ministries of Foreign Matters and Tourism.
The particular reception will take place at the prestigious Torre de Cristal, in the Four Systems central business district of the downtown area Madrid.
Unanimously endorsed by Africa Heads of State and Govt at the AU Summit held within Kigali, Rwanda in July, 2016, Dr Mzembi thus assumed the particular mantle of Africa’ s applicant for the top UNWTO post – a position which has never before already been held by an African.

Prior to that will, he held various positions both in the public and private sectors within Zimbabwe and internationally – including heading the Zimbabwe abordnung to the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Set up for three consecutive years.
He has represented his country within the UNWTO Executive Council and is presently serving his second consecutive phrase as Chairperson of the UNWTO’ s i9000 Regional Commission for Africa.
Dr . Mzembi has a long-standing, deep and abiding passion just for tourism in all its many aspects, as well as a well-defined and clearly articulated vision for the future development of the global travel and leisure industry under the umbrella of the UNWTO.
