One travel card for public transport across India: Niti Aayog announces One-Nation-One-Card

Now soon it will be possible to visit across India with an individual card by using that you can purchase all modes of transport. The brand new policy shall bring India consistent with London, Singapore along with other global metropolises in which a single card can be used for multiple modes of transport. For example in London, you can purchase one card that goes on the real name Oyster card and will travel on buses, metro and suburban trains using that card. The brand new One-Nation-One-Card policy shall offer seamless connectivity between various modes of transport and therefore, you won’t have to be worried about carrying different cards or cash for different modes of transport.

Amitabh Kant, CEO, NITI Aayog said that the objective of the strategy would be to first arrange for the citizens, of concentrating on vehicles alone instead, by giving sustainable accessibility and mobility by switching to a cleaner mode of transportation. Kant added a robust transportation system may be the backbone of any economy and specifically for a densely populated country like India, the focus of the country’s mobility strategy was on sustainable modes of public transport, transport-oriented digitisation and planning. Towards the contribution of India’s GDP, the street transportation segment alone plays a part in around four percent despite being heavily influenced by fossil fuels.

The NITI Aayog CEO also added that in the wake of the worsening quality of air in the country’s major cities, the rising concerns of climate change and an ever-increasing oil import bill, mobility is really a crucial part of the development puzzle and may be the key to unlocking the potential of India’s economy and folks. Anil Srivastava, NITI Aayog Advisor said that the national government was working towards achieving a robust mobility ecosystem across India. It isn’t just the national government who’ll lead to developing a positive change in the surroundings. The citizens too, should focus on their share and part a ride around they can.
