Patrick Kaler, CEO of Visit Buffalo Niagara, has been named the New York State Tourism Executive of the Year by the New York State Hospitality and Tourism Association.
Kaler was nominated for the award by Jill Delaney, president and CEO of Visit Albany. NYSHTA is an advocating association for the travel and tourism industry.
He has also been elected chair of the U.S. Travel Association’s Destinations Council. In Kaler’s national position as chair of the Destinations Council, he’ll oversee advocacy efforts for the tourism industry including 400 members of the U.S. Travel Association.
Kaler became president and CEO of Visit Buffalo Niagara in 2014. Previously, he worked in tourism promoting Lake Tahoe, Los Angeles and Virginia’s wine country.
