Taylor Swift unveiled her upcoming album name, release date, and cover art on Wednesday, sending Swift fans into a frenzy. While some are anxiously awaiting the Thursday debut of her first single, others are less than pleased with the design of Swift’s album cover.
Before hearing even a single note of Swift’s new album, people have already started trashing the black and white album cover, which features multiple layers of text rendered in different fonts and varying opacity, all displaying the artist’s name.
Some were reminded of the Myspace era:
While I’m looking forward to the single I cannot believe Taylor Swift’s “dark era” aesthetic is 2004 Myspace “punk phase”.

One person compared it to a promo for a true crime documentary:
But overall, people were just upset with the graphic design choice:
Taylor swift’s new album cover is 100% the “graphic design is my passion” meme

Previously the only font that made me feel anything was Comic Sans (rage), but that Taylor Swift album cover’s making me anxious.
