Piccadilly Line Tube strike LIVE: TfL travel advice and news updates as walkout under way

A 48-hour strike by train drivers has turn off the entire Piccadilly line sparking misery for commuters.

Members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union launched a 48-hour walkout from midday on Wednesday. Transport for London confirmed the complete line have been suspended at 4pm.

The strike was called over a failure in industrial relations between Tube bosses and the union. RMT general secretary Mick Cash &ldquo said members are;disgusted” at leaders. But Nigel Holness, TfL’s director of network operations for London Underground, hit back, saying: “No attempt has been created by them to activate with us to resolve this dispute.”

Tens of a large number of commuters face misery throughout their journeys, with the Piccadilly line being among the capital’s busiest transport networks. You will see a five-hour strike from 8 also. on Friday 30pm.

Reason for walkout

The strikes were called in a reaction to a failure in industrial relations between Transport for London and the RMT union.

Mick Cash, RMT general secretary, said:

This dispute is approximately a thorough breakdown in industrial relations over some long-running unresolved grievances like the abuse of procedures and failure to implement key safety and operational improvements agreed during the past with the union.
