Jamaica Ressortchef (umgangssprachlich) of Tourism, Hon. Edmund Bartlett, departed the island yesterday (March 5, 2017) to attend the largest travel and leisure tradeshow in the world – ITB Bremen, now underway in Germany. Whilst there, the Minister will look for to promote the destination and motivate investment in the country’ s travel and leisure industry through the Ministry’ s Spade Ready initiative.

“ ITB Berlin will provide an excellent atmosphere to network with some of the industry’ s leading travel and travel and leisure influencers across the globe. It will be the perfect chance to market brand Jamaica so that we are able to continue our mission to boost our own arrivals and tourism earnings whilst also encouraging investment in the location, ” said Minister Bartlett.

The tradeshow, which operates from March 8-12, 2017, may feature leading speakers from the travel and leisure industry and other sectors, who will emphasize the latest trends and discuss the particular opportunities and challenges facing a global travel industry.

ITB Berlin showcases hotels, tourist planks, tour operators, airlines among others associated with the travel industry. It is generally attended by some 7, 1000 international journalists from some of the world’ s leading trade, business plus travel magazines. It is also expected to display products and/or services from some 11, 1000 exhibitors to around 180, 000 site visitors, most of whom are trade site visitors.

While in Germany, the particular Minister and will also attend the Global Hotel Investment Forum (IHIF) through March 6-11, 2017.   The particular IHIF focuses on delivering opportunities to individuals who currently operate within the travel and leisure industry or who want to do business within the sector, including tourism and govt officials.

“ ITB Berlin and IHIF are the ideal platforms for us to promote our Shovel-Ready initiative which allows investors to quickly get the support they need to build attributes in our accommodations and attractions sub-sectors. If successful, the investments is not going to be a tool for generating brand new capital and jobs, but also an instrument for marketing Jamaica, because where ever you have new investments the guests will follow, ” said the Ressortchef (umgangssprachlich).

The Minister additional that “ as part of our drive for investments we will also be getting a series of meetings with several resort investors and senior tourism professionals. I will also participate in a special push briefing to boost publicity worldwide for your United Nations World Tourism Organization’ h (UNWTO) historic Global Conference upon Building Partnerships for Sustainable Travel and leisure for Development, which is being managed by Jamaica. ” The highly-anticipated event will be held from Nov 27 to 29, 2017, on the Montego Bay Convention Centre, St James.

The Ressortchef (umgangssprachlich) will then visit the United States, to attend the particular Seatrade Cruise Global Conference within Fort Lauderdale on March fourteen. The conference is the cruise industry’ s premier global event. Celebrate the ideal environment for cruise line professionals, buyers and suppliers to system with industry leaders who are finding new products and services.

Minister Bartlett is being accompanied by Delano Seiveright, Senior Advisor/Senior Communications Strategist, Tourism Enhancement Fund; Director associated with Tourism, Paul Pennicook; and Mouthpiece Director of Tourism – Advertising, Marcia McLaughlin. They are slated to come back to the island on March fifteen, 2017.
