Pol Gen Somyot Poompunmuang will give his account of the money he borrowed while still police chief from a massage palour tycoon to the Department of Special Investigation on Thursday, DSI director-general Paisit Wongmuang said on Wednesday.
The DSI is investigating the financial transactions of Kampol Wirathepsuporn, the fugitive owner of the Victoria’s Secret Massage parlour.
The place was raided last month by Wang Thong Lang police and police later linked Mr Kampol with a human trafficking network. The DSI later took over the case from police.
The investigators found financial transactions of 300 million baht between Mr Kampol and a senior police officer.
Pol Gen Somyot, who is president of the Football Association of Thailand, on Feb 5 came out to admit he had borrowed about that amount from Mr Kampol. “We’re friends,” the former top police officer said at the time.
The DSI chief said the former national police chief was summonsed on Monday.
