The Fondation Carmignac, a fresh gallery and landscaped sculpture park on the southern French island of Porquerolle, has already established a best alfresco art bestowed upon it award.

Among other activities it includes a group of huge egg-like rocks developed by German artist/naturalist Nils-Udo.

EasyJet Traveller editor Jonny Ensall said: ‘The easyJet Best Of awards certainly are a refreshing option to stuffy travel guides.

‘They celebrate the true experiences that gave us goosebumps this season.

‘We have an excellent network of travel writers, bloggers, vloggers and photographers who have been all very keen to talk about the fantastic things they did in 2018 that could otherwise go beneath the radar.’

Lisa Blair, chief marketing officer for easyJet, added: ‘2018 was a thrilling year for travel experiences, with customers filled with travel suggestions.

‘It would go to show there’s far more available than just the normal tourist hot-spots to fill our customers with that get-up-and-go spirit.

‘Social media has really driven visitors to seek more adventure, more unique experiences and great Insta-worthy locations to talk about making use of their friends.

‘We added several new destinations to your network this season so customers have a lot more to explore, including Aqaba in Jordan, Rovaniemi in Finland, Volos in Greece and Pau in France.’

The awards will run again in December 2019 with new categories to match the year’s travel trends.
