Tourism vision for Barak Valley

Silchar: Union minister of state for water resources, river development and Ganga rejuvenation and parliamentary affairs, Arjun Ram Meghwal, on Wednesday said the Centre has a “prudent vision” to develop tourism in south Assam’s Barak Valley and necessary steps will be taken soon to clean the Barak as a part of the initiative.

Interacting with the media on the sidelines of his visit to Silchar to attend a Holi programme, Meghwal said the Barak is of immense importance for the people in the Northeast and the Centre will take steps for its development in consultation with the state government. He said preventing erosion is also among the government’s priorities and the Central Water Commission is monitoring the issue.

The Holi programme was jointly organised by Marwari Sammelan, Marwari Yuva Mancha and Holi Utsav Mancha at Rajiv Bhawan here.
