Travel ban: Omisore speaks on being contained in Buhari’s 50-man list

The governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, in the concluded election in Osun State just, Senator Iyiola Omisore, has said he does not have any case of corruption in virtually any court or with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

The former Deputy Governor said this in a reaction to the Yoruba Youth Socio-Cultural Association, an organization that berated the President Muhammadu Buhari government for excluding Omisore and Senator Musiliu Obanikoro from the travel ban list issued against 50 prominent Nigerians.

The former Osun State Deputy Governor, spoke in a statement issued by his media aide, Jide Fakorede, tuesday on.

Omisore &ldquo said the YYSA was;a faceless group” which he said had been utilized by some politicians who “aren’t happy” with the role he played through the rerun election in Osun State.

The statement continued, “This fictitious group is really a creation of these who were unhappy with the recent political developments in Osun State and who, obviously, usually do not mean well for the constant state but only attempting to mutilate the high integrity of Senator Omisore.

“We’ve without doubt of the existence of some failed politicians who’ve scores to stay with the former Osun State deputy governor but are actually feeling frustrated along with his continuous rise in the political firmament of the united states, despite almost all their ”pull him down” effort.

“This group of persons represents retrogression, deliberate underdevelopment and falsehood. Again, they will have failed.

“Let’s face the reality squarely: Senator Iyiola Omisore was wrongly accused in 2016 and he surrendered himself to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for investigation and was presented with a ‘clean bill of health’ by the anti-graft body following a thorough investigation.

“It really is on record that no case was instituted against him in virtually any court of our land and neither was he arraigned before any court. He’s got been enjoying his freedom and contains presented himself for election into public office even, passing through all security screenings. So, we ask, what’s the noise about?

“The foundation for placement on the watch list and travel ban would be to make sure that those answering EFCC charges are held within the united states; and for someone devoid of an ongoing case with the anti-graft agency, there could be no basis to restrict his movement.”

Fakorede said Yoruba youths all around the global world were regarded as intelligent and industrious, saying they might subject themselves to used by &ldquo never;political jobbers and rejected politicians” for any good reason.

He added that “genuine Yoruba youths” would make &ldquo never;reckless statements” just like the one issued by the YYSA.

“Senator Omisore is busy with the arduous task of creating alliance across different political parties, with the purpose of developing Osun State and using his contacts from his extensive network garnered through the years throughout his private practice as an effective chartered engineer; and can not allow distractions from fake group such as this to discourage him,” Fakorede noted.
