Travel pass not required for Tagaytay visitors — Gov. Remulla

CAVITE – Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla clarified on Thursday that visitors to Tagaytay don’t need to secure a travel pass.

The clarification came two days after it was announced that non-Cavite residents will need to secure a pass to enter the popular weekend destination.

“On behalf of the Cavite Provincial Government, I would like to apologize for the hasty decision to issue a travel warning to Tagaytay City last September 15,” Remulla wrote on his Facebook page. “I was reacting to a directive made by Philippine National Police Deputy Chief Lt. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar that a travel pass is required to enter Tagaytay.”

“Sa kasalukuyan, bukas po ang Tagaytay City under MGCQ at hindi po kinakailangan ng travel pass para makarating dito (At present, Tagaytay City is open under modified general community quarantine and a travel pass is not needed to go there),” he added.

Remulla warned visitors to practice strict  health protocols after 250 cadets in the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) along Tagaytay-Sta. Rosa Road tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

As per Tagaytay City’s latest count released on Thursday, the city has recorded 107 confirmed cases of COVID-19.
