Unlimited travel pass for commuters in Klang Valley
KUALA LUMPUR: The Pakatan Harapan (PH) government yesterday launched the unlimited travel pass, referred to as My100 and My50, in a proceed to decrease the cost of living for the social people.
Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said the facility, which may be implemented in the Klang Valley effective Jan 1, 2019, will be extended to other states later on also.
“As an effort run, we will begin in Kuala Lumpur so we are able to know if you can find weaknesses to rectify. We are achieving this to lessen the people’s burden in order to like a better life,” yesterday he said at the launch of the travel pass at KL Sentral.

Dr Mahathir said the introduction of the travel pass was also an initiative by the federal government towards promoting the culture of cashless society, which amongst others could curb corruption.
“Cash makes possible for bribery, but cashless is hard to bribe because every trip will be recorded so we are able to know who accepts and provides.
“If corruption is widespread inside our country, everything will undoubtedly be expensive because payment must be designed to certain quarters to approve a request,” he said.
In his speech, Dr Mahathir said that as promised in its manifesto, efforts were always created by the Pakatan Harapan government to lessen the expense of living of individuals, adding that the federal government was open to get views and suggestions from any quarters.

Earlier, Dr Mahathir took the chance to board the LRT light rail transit system from the Universiti Station to KL Sentral for the launching ceremony.
Subscription for the travel pass could be made using MyKad, MyKid and MyTentera at the Touch and Head to make sure that the facility is enjoyed by Malaysians only. The My100 pass allows commuters to gain access to unlimited ride for 1 month on all types of RapidKL rail and road transport, including MRT, LRT, monorail, BRT Sunway, RapidKL MRT and buses feeder buses.
With the My50 pass, commuters can enjoy unlimited rides for an interval of 1 month on all RapidKL MRT and buses feeder buses, excluding BRT. — Bernama
