Wed. 9 p.m.: Tourism bureau promotes Trumbull’s Italian food culture
HOWLAND – In many places, people believe pasta sauce comes from a jar and pizza comes from a hut.
In Trumbull County, people know better, and the Trumbull County Tourism Bureau plans to use that culinary expertise to attract visitors to the area.
Beth Carmichael, executive director of the bureau, announced today the Italian Food Trail (www.italianfoodtrail.com), a website created to promote the wealth of Italian-inspired cuisine that can be found locally.
Tourism was responsible for more than $550 million in Trumbull County business activity in 2017, she said. “With food and experiential travel topping the travel trends list, the Italian Food Trail gives visitors one more reason to visit while tapping into these national trends.”
The site features nearly 50 locations, from full-scale Italian restaurants and pizza shops to Italian markets and specialty food vendors.
