The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi named Chef Wang Canhua as the new Executive Chinese Chef at Hai Yan restaurant. Chef Wang, originally from Zhengzhou, China, has more than 22 years of culinary expertise and holds a degree in Culinary Arts & Hospitality Management from China’s New Oriental School of Culinary Education. His extensive international experience and knowledge will be a valuable addition to The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi.
Chef Wang began his culinary journey as a wok chef in China. Seeking to broaden his horizons, he ventured overseas and worked at a Chinese restaurant in Dubai, followed by a stint in Germany. In 2016, he joined The Ritz-Carlton, Al-Bustan Palace as a Junior Sous Chef at the renowned China Mood restaurant, where he refined his culinary skills. During his tenure at The Ritz-Carlton, he was selected to be part of a task force and was temporarily assigned to the St. Regis Dubai, The Palm for four months.
In 2019, after three successful years, Chef Wang embraced a new opportunity and joined the Waldorf Astoria Ithaafushi in the Maldives as a Sous Chef for Li Long, their contemporary Chinese restaurant. In this role, he collaborated with the executive chef to create innovative dishes, trained the staff, ensured food quality and cost control, and conducted health and safety training.
