Accor is launching a new wave of hotels that are reshaping airport areas into vibrant mini-cities. Accor‘s latest airport accommodations are scheduled to debut at Melbourne Airport on July 1.
These Novotel and ibis Styles Melbourne Airport hotels will mark the company’s third and fourth properties in the precinct, and the first internationally branded hotels at the airport in nearly two decades. The $230 million hotel project, crafted by FK Architect and featuring interiors by Woods Bagot, offers 464 guestrooms divided between Novotel (248 rooms) and ibis Styles (216 rooms).
The dual-branded hotels are scheduled to open during a period when Melbourne Airport is experiencing a surge in international passenger numbers. With the introduction of Turkish Airlines in March, the airport welcomed 923,065 international travelers. Projections indicate that by 2042, Melbourne Airport will accommodate 76 million passengers, nearly doubling the figures from 2019. This growth reflects the transformation of the airport precinct into an aerotropolis. The two dual-branded hotels will provide a wide range of amenities to meet the needs of business, conference, and leisure guests, as well as individuals working or visiting the airport area.
