Archipelago International, the largest privately owned hotel management group in Southeast Asia, made a significant move last week by opening its first corporate office in the Dominican Republic. The official launch event in Punta Cana was graced by the presence of the Vice Minister for Tourism and the Indonesian Ambassador.

During the event, Archipelago International also announced the signing of multiple management agreements in the Dominican Republic and Mexico. This expansion marks a new chapter for Indonesia-headquartered company, as it aims to bring its brands, management services, and hospitality technology development company, Sentinel Tech, to the region. The opening ceremony was attended by representatives from the Indonesian and Dominican Republic governments, prominent investors and developers from travel and tourism sector.

Mr. Gerard Byrne, Managing Director, presented the 27-year journey of Archipelago International on behalf of the Board. The company started in Jakarta and has now expanded to manage over 270 hotels, with an additional 80 hotels in the pipeline across 15 countries and 5 continents. He highlighted the importance of a unified customer experience, high Asian service standards, and ongoing investment in technology as key factors contributing to the company’s success both locally and globally.
