Drukair - Royal Bhutan Airlines Adds Two New Airbus Jets to Fleet

Drukair – Royal Bhutan Airlines, the official airline of the Kingdom of Bhutan, which is wholly owned by the state holding company Druk Holding and Investments Limited (DHI), has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Airbus to acquire 3 A320neo and 2 A321XLR aircraft in order to enhance its global route network.

The anticipated delivery of the new aircraft is scheduled for 2030. Drukair intends to operate these aircraft from Paro International Airport and the upcoming airport at Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC), which is envisioned to be Bhutan’s futuristic economic center. This move will enable Drukair to enhance its flight connections to Europe, South East Asia, and Australia. Currently, Drukair’s fleet includes four Airbus A320 Family aircraft, comprising of three A319s and one A320.

According to the vision of His Majesty Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, GMC, situated in the southern plains of Bhutan, is becoming a fresh economic powerhouse for the Kingdom. As the official airline, Drukair is crucial in facilitating the growth of GMC and Bhutan by effectively and dependably addressing the increasing demands for transportation and logistics.
