Today marks the commencement of a fresh chapter for the employees of Alaska Airlines and their professional journeys, as the acquisition of a state-of-the-art facility paves the way for an exciting future. This newly acquired training hub will serve as a home to the airline’s exceptional training programs, elevating the learning experience for flight attendants, pilots, customer service agents, and various other roles. Furthermore, this centralized facility will streamline operations, bringing together various functions under one roof.
Alaska currently accommodates nine full-motion flight simulators within the establishment and intends to introduce a tenth in the coming years. Alongside the simulators, the upcoming area will feature a simulated aircraft for in-flight exercises, classrooms, an auditorium, a production studio, and ample office space. The site is situated within Longacres, a property acquired by Unico Properties from Boeing in December 2021, previously serving as the location for Boeing Commercial Airplane HQ.
Alaska Airlines has acquired the 19-acre land from Unico Properties for a total of $85.75 million. This purchase includes the 600,000-square-foot facility that was specifically constructed by Boeing to serve as an aviation training center. In order to enhance the space, Alaska Airlines intends to allocate an extra $100 million for renovation purposes.
