Vietnam Airlines announced that it will commence a direct route between Hanoi and Phnom Penh. The airline has also established collaborative partnerships with important stakeholders in Cambodia during the latest State visit of President To Lam of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the Kingdom of Cambodia, to promote the growth of aviation and tourism in both nations.
The upcoming route will begin operations on 27 October 2024, offering four weekly flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays using Airbus A321 aircraft. Travelers flying from Hanoi to Phnom Penh will now have to make a stopover in Vientiane, Laos, as part of the airline’s Indochina service.
Vietnam Airlines will have a total of five routes connecting Vietnam and Cambodia by the end of October, with four direct routes: Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Phnom Penh, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Siem Reap, and one Indochina route. The weekly flights between the two countries will increase to 86.
The new route is anticipated to draw in global tourists looking to blend trips to Vietnam with other locations in the area, such as Japan, Korea, and various European countries.
