Milan Bergamo Airport is eyeing growth and expanding connectivity not only within Europe but also extending its reach to Asia and the Middle East in 2024.
By launching new key routes linking Milan Bergamo with major cities in western Asia and the Gulf region, international airlines are set to expand their services in northern Italy and improve access to distant markets.
For this upcoming summer, Milan Bergamo Airport announced the commencement of flights to five destinations in the region, such as Istanbul, Dubai, Sharjah, Amman, and Tel Aviv. This will provide travelers with the chance to discover these dynamic cities, conduct business, or smoothly connect to various other destinations worldwide. A total of over 470,000 seats will be available between Milan Bergamo Airport and Asia as well as the Middle East will be available for the summer season of 2024.
Milan Bergamo Airport is connected to Istanbul’s Sabiha Gokcen Airport by two carriers: Pegasus Airlines and AJet, which is a low-cost subsidiary of Turkish Airlines. With a total of more than 269,000 seats available between Milan Bergamo and Turkey’s biggest city, passengers will have plenty of options to choose from.
Pegasus Airlines offers convenient and cost-effective flights to a range of destinations in the Middle East, such as Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, and Saudi Arabia. In contrast, AJet enables passengers to easily connect with Turkish Airlines, which serves the highest number of countries globally. Additionally, both airlines offer extensive domestic connections within Turkey, including coastal cities.
In late 2022, Air Arabia became a part of Milan Bergamo’s list of airlines by commencing flights to Sharjah. This marked the airport’s inaugural nonstop service to the United Arab Emirates. Throughout the entire summer, the airline is operating daily flights on this route, thereby increasing its capacity by 31% compared to the previous year. This service offers convenient transfers for customers traveling to and from India, Pakistan, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh. As a result, Milan Bergamo has witnessed a rise in the number of connecting passengers due to Air Arabia’s extensive network.
Flydubai made its inaugural landing at Milan Bergamo Airport in March of last year and has since grown its presence in the region. This season, the airline is operating daily flights to the vibrant city it proudly calls home, resulting in a remarkable 32% increase in its total seating capacity, now offering over 92,000 seats. Passengers not only have the opportunity to explore the heart of one of the world’s most sought-after tourist destinations, but they can also take advantage of an extensive network of connecting flights.
Flydubai has established a partnership with Emirates, a major global airline, to offer seamless connections to and from various destinations such as India, southeast Asia, Africa, Australia, and New Zealand. These routes have gained popularity among travelers flying between Milan Bergamo Airport and the Maldives, Zanzibar, Sri Lanka, Bangkok, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Delhi, and Kathmandu.
Ryanair is expanding its travel options to Asia and the Middle East this summer, including a weekly service to Amman, the capital of Jordan, and two flights per week to Tel Aviv, which will resume on 5 June.
